Steamed Cake Custard 160g

Four small steamed cakes, each filled with smooth custard cream. Steaming keeps the dough moist and light – shittori fuwafuwa, as Ichioka puts it: soft and fluffy at once.

Ichioka Seika has been making sweets in Tokushima, on Shikoku, since 1949. Its steamed cakes come with custard, matcha and banana cream.

Eat them as they are, or chill them first. Black tea or hojicha is a good match for the custard.
