Yamasaku Green Sauce Dish 100ml
This small handmade sauce dish in deep green is part of the Yamasaku series by Tokyo Design Studio. Yamasaku is made in Japan from stoneware, not porcelain. That makes a real difference in the hand: a heavier, denser body, a warmer feel, and a slightly coarser surface underneath the glaze.
Each piece is shaped by hand, so the green never sits perfectly evenly. It gathers and darkens where the glaze runs thick and lightens over the raised edges. The potter's marks stay visible. No two dishes come out identical.
The format is a classic kobachi, a small bowl rather than a flat plate. At 8.2 cm across and 3 cm deep it holds around 100 ml, so it takes enough shoyu for a full plate of sushi and still has the depth to stir wasabi into it properly.
Use it for shoyu and wasabi, ponzu for gyoza, goma dressing, a spoon of yuzu kosho, or good sesame oil with salt for dipping raw vegetables. It also works as a resting spot for shichimi, sansho or flaky salt at the table, and as a small dish to highlight pale food, like tofu, daikon or white fish.
