Tsuchikuma Assorted Tea Gift Set 11,6g
Three Hokkaido flavours in one box, from Tsuchikura, one of the north's best-known tea houses, running in Sapporo since 1958. Founder Hideyuki Tsuchikura spent his life criss-crossing Hokkaido, over mountains and along the coast, to spread tea culture across the island. The Tsuchikuma line, launched in 2021, put him into its logo: a carved bear with a teapot in its mouth, half founder roaming like a bear, half nod to Hokkaido's famous woodcarved bears.
Three teabags, two of each, all additive-free with no added flavouring. The house's tea masters pick the domestic Japanese sencha base, then blend in northern botanicals.
Lavender green tea uses lavender from Kamifurano, Hokkaido's celebrated lavender town: soft & sweet. Mint green tea carries native hakka mint from Takinoue on the Okhotsk coast: fresh and cooling, rounder than peppermint. Corn tea (tokibi-cha) is roasted from Hokkaido corn: caffeine-free, toasty and gently sweet.
Preparation:
- For the two green tea blends, water just off the boil (around 80°C) for about a minute keeps them soft and aromatic.
- The corn tea is forgiving: freshly boiled water, two to three minutes, and being caffeine-free it works late in the evening or before bed.
