Hachi Shichimi Togarashi Chili Pepper 17g
This spicy type of Shichimi Togarashi from Hachi is using 60% chili flakes to flavour up the taste. It's very fragrant and adds a nice little punch to your ramen soup, noodle dish or steamed rice. Saying this,, we can’t promise you won’t become obsessed once you do, because you just want to add it to anything, sprinkle just a bit on salmon, salad, pasta, eggs or vegetables.
Also known as nana-iro tōgarashi (seven colour chilli pepper) or simply shichimi, is a common Japanese spice mixture containing seven ingredients and makes a versatile mix. This kind of spice blend dates back at least to the 17th century, when it was produced by herb dealers in Edo, which was the old name for Tokyo. It's hot but not too hot, the seaweed lends umami notes, sesame seeds bring texture, orange zest adds floral, sweet notes, and ginger contributes a bit of zing, very pleasant!
