Suehiro's Smoked Shoyu (Murasaki purple shoyu) is a dark and intensively deep soy sauce with the intense taste of the smoke of Japanese sakura trees - what a delicate combination! It is used for finishing your dish, seasoning your veggies or drip it on your favourite meat. 

In traditional restaurants, the term "murasaki" is used instead of shoyu. Murasaki means purple or violet. This is not only a poetic paraphrase, but it also sounds more polite as it is an indirect expression. This Smoked Shoyu is very suitable to elevate the taste of cooked or steamed  ingredients and should be enjoyed purely with tofu, steak, vegetables or grilled dishes. 

Suehiro was founded in 1879 in Hyogo Prefecture and is one of the gourmet recognised specialists especially for light soy sauces. They are less salty and, with the help of of rice koji, they are very full-bodied and have a round character. Why are those called purple? In traditional restaurants, instead of shoyu, the term 'murasaki' is used.
