Urashima Katsuo Furikake on rice is as commonplace in Japan as jam on bread is in America. Furikake is a lightly salted seasoning to be sprinkled on top of cooked rice, porridge, salad, and also good with pasta. It typically consists of a mixture of dried fish, sesame seeds, chopped seaweed, sugar, salt, and monosodium glutamate. Other flavorful ingredients add accents of sweet, salty and crispy notes. Urashima is a leading grower of fine Japanese Nori seaweed since 1914.
